About the assignment - from Jacqueline

The assignment is something that you will have to confirm with Mr. Paddington, as he set it. I am not sure what it is exactly, yet. In our original discussions he suggested that the final project was to create a website. Period. Using whichever tools that were taught. I believed that it would be a final assignment ustilising all the tools/workshops - as it is pretty much impossible to build a really good site without having a good grasp of images and image editing as well - which you haven't yet done. Podcasting and audio/video are also very useful tools to include in any comprehensive final project.

If the assignment is per workshop, and you have to do a site with what you went through in the workshop over the past two Thursdays, then you can do a site with either a blogging tool or with Mambo, using a template.

When the Internet hosted Mambo server location is agreed, it will be posted.

In the meantime, I believe the server that was used for the class is still up and running. If so, you can use it for training purposes. You can check with Mr. Paddington.

No - there is no access to the server outside of UWI.
Re Mambo - there is no software to download. It is a server technology, as mentioned several times during the 2 days.
The decision on what kind of website that you create is totally up to you. On the first day, there were discussions about what kind of website each person wanted to create. Thus, you should have an idea of what you want to do.
If you did the exercises in the class, then you can create a website using Mambo.

The class exercises were to practice the steps needed to create the elements of a site.
To create a site for the assignment, you will need to:
1. Decide what information you want to put out on the Internet
2. Gather that information - images, text
3. Log on to the Mambo server on the Internet when it is set up (check Mr.Paddington for that timeline)
4. Repeat the steps that were done in class to create the elements of a site.
OR:
Do steps 1 &2, then log on to your blogging tool and then do step 4 as above.

With regard to the other comment:
Given the discussion from 9am to 9:45am on the second day, when the class was asked if there were any problems with the material from the previous week, the questions that were asked were answered, until the person with the problem indicated that it was clear to them. If no-one at that point explained that they were "totally lost" on the material from the first week, then I do not think it is realistic to expect us to guess this.
We were asked to show you the fastest way to create a useful website. The class went through all the steps necessary to do so. No=ome explained that they could not do the exercise. The steps were all followed by most everyone. In order to create a useful website, all you need to do is follow the steps as discussed in class to create items in Mambo, or to create blog postings.
